CABAC Insurances (hereafter “CABI”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to respecting the privacy and confidentiality of personal information collected from its members, associations, and affiliated individuals. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of personal data we collect, how it is used, stored, and protected, and the rights of members with respect to their personal data.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to all associations and individuals registered with CABI, and any personal data submitted for the purposes of registration, claims, or general participation in the repatriation insurance program.

2. Information We Collect

  • Personal Identification Data: Full name, date of birth, photo ID, Passport, Article of incorporation, social security number, and immigration documents.
  • Membership Details: Association affiliation, registration number, payment history, and status.
  • Sensitive Data for Claims: Death certificate, photo of the deceased, funeral home invoices, and beneficiary contact details.
  • Financial Data: Contribution payment details (Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, bank transfers), receipt documentation.
  • Administrative Documents: Court-issued name change documents, marriage/divorce certificates, Form 4506-T or W2, and pay stubs.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Membership Management: Verification, registration, list updates, eligibility validation, and association transfers.
  • Claims Processing: Verifying death notifications, processing funeral reimbursements, and issuing funds to funeral homes or beneficiaries.
  • Communication: Disseminating updates, policy amendments, contribution requests, and General Meeting notices.
  • Compliance & Legal: Addressing fraud, disputes, and enforcing CABI’s bylaws and internal regulations.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

CABI does not sell or rent personal data to third parties. We may share limited data with:

  • Authorized CABI Officers and Board Members for internal operations and decision-making.
  • Funeral Homes or Financial Institutions solely for the processing of payments and verifications.
  • Legal Authorities when required by law, or to address fraud or other violations of CABI’s rules.

5. Data Storage and Retention

  • All data is securely stored in password-protected databases accessible only to authorized personnel.
  • Member data is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes listed in this policy or as required by law.
  • Death-related documents are not archived beyond claim processing per Section 16.4 of the internal rules.

6. Member Rights

  • Access their personal data by submitting a request to CABI.
  • Correct minor errors (e.g., typos) in names or contact information.
  • Withdraw Membership and request data deletion, unless retention is legally required.
  • Object to data misuse or file complaints to the CABI Council.

Note: Certain requests (e.g., name changes) must be accompanied by legal documentation as specified in Section 11.3.

7. Data Protection Practices

  • Restricted internal access to personal data.
  • Encrypted file sharing for sensitive documents.
  • Regular internal reviews to ensure compliance with policies.

8. Communication of Policy

This Privacy Policy is available on the official CABI website and will be sent via email to all member associations upon adoption or update. Updates to this policy will be communicated in the same manner and are effective upon notification.
